We spent all winter meticulously planning this adventure. Spreadsheets glowed, maps unfurled, and calendars morphed into a mosaic of scenic routes and pre-booked campsites. I weighed driving times like a meteorologist predicting storms, calculated supply lists down to the last roll of toilet paper, and patted myself on the back for “having it all together.”

Fast forward to today—T-minus 10 days—and reality has arrived like an uninvited raccoon at a campsite.  (no that’s not true since we love racoons – more like uninvited Ants)

The Great Unraveling:

Turns out, the universe doesn’t pause your mortgage, family emergencies, or appliance breakdowns just because you’re prepping for a 101-day road trip. Here’s where our “perfect” plan met reality:

- Roof Inspection Surprise: Minor repairs? Check. A cracked antenna demanding replacement? Cue the frantic Googling of RV parts.

- Cat Food Crisis: Our feline overlords’ specific gourmet kibble is backordered. Let’s hope they enjoy “road-trip mystery flavor” without staging a mutiny.

- Task Inflation: Today’s goal: 15 checklist items. Today’s achievement: 7.5 (I’ll take that half-fixed water hose as a win). Today’s new discoveries: 10 additional tasks.

Progress? Let’s Call It “Adventure Prep”:

We’re not failing—we’re just mastering the art of RV Tetris. The RV roof will get patched, the cats will survive (dramatic sighs included), and somehow, by launch day, the essentials will be packed. Probably. Maybe.

Why 9 Days Still Feels Like Plenty (Denial Is a Survival Skill):

Every road-tripper knows the secret: half the adventure is the chaotic prelude. Stay tuned for updates on:

- Fitting the “larger than it looked” extra freezer in somewhere

- How Many Times We’ll Reweigh the RV to Avoid “Overload Shame”

- My Quest to find time to shop for food, clean the house before we leave, confirm all our “backup” people are in place.
