Just the idea of driving the Alaska Highway sounded like an adventure to us. There’s something about being able to actually drive to the start of it from our Florida home that feels wildly different than flying in and “starting” the trip once you land.

Haines Junction became our base camp for exploring Kluane National Park. Towering over everything were the formidable St. Elias Mountains. They formed what looked like an impenetrable wall of rock, snow and glaciers stretching all the way to the Gulf of Alaska.
