Restaurant Review: The Daily Catch  214 Main Street, Saint Lunaire-Griquet, NL

Location & Atmosphere:

Great window view

Perfectly positioned right on the water and impossible to miss along the only road in and out of town. The harbor views are absolutely spectacular—watching birds soar over colorful fishing shacks and boats dotting the water, all framed by rolling green mountains.

Near the Viking RV Park and the Vikings heritage center.

Food Quality:

Outstanding! We both ordered the pan-fried cod with garden salad, and the freshness was immediately apparent. The cod was perfectly prepared—flaky, tender, and clearly caught locally. The garden salad tasted like it came straight from someone's backyard garden (which it probably did)—that's the only way to achieve that incredible flavor and crispness you simply can't get from shipped produce.

Standout Dish: The partridgeberry crumble with ice cream for dessert was a revelation! The partridgeberries have a unique tartness that's beautifully balanced and incredibly smooth—packed with distinctive local flavor we'd never experienced before.

Local Charm:

What made our meal even more special was witnessing the genuine community spirit. During our dinner, a little boy came in with his family, and the squeal of recognition from another little boy at a nearby table put smiles on everyone's faces. They were so excited to see each other unexpectedly—one of those heartwarming moments that reminded us why we love dining where the locals eat.

Service & Value: Simple, honest preparation that lets the quality ingredients shine. No fancy presentations needed when everything is this fresh and local.

Why We Loved It:

This is exactly what we look for in our travels—locally owned, featuring regional ingredients, with an ambiance and community feel you can't replicate anywhere else. The combination of exceptional fresh seafood, stunning harbor views, and authentic local atmosphere made for a perfect meal.

Verdict:

A must-visit when exploring the northern tip of Newfoundland. The Daily Catch delivers authentic local dining with views and community warmth that make every bite even better.
