First Impressions

If you're seeking a peaceful oceanfront RV experience with stunning wide-open views, The Moorings II delivers in spades. We stayed in an oceanfront full-hookup site ($135/night) and were blown away by the spacious layout and breathtaking coastal scenery.

⚠️ Important Navigation Tip:

Don't make our mistake! Moorings I (about 2 miles before Moorings II) has an extremely tight turn that forced us to unhook our 44ft rig just to escape. Double-check your GPS and look for the correct entrance!

The Campsite & Amenities

✅ Excellent access – Easily accommodated our 44ft Class A

✅ Spacious, well-maintained sites – Plenty of room to spread out

✅ Full hookups – Reliable electric, water, and sewer

✅ Strong WiFi – Though we also used Starlink in this wide-open setting

⚠️ Laundry facilities – Available back at Moorings I (minor inconvenience)

The real magic?

Those unobstructed ocean views. Each oceanfront site comes with Adirondack chairs perfectly positioned for soaking in the scenery. Our first day brought strong ocean winds (so strong our cats' tunnel doors kept flying around despite our best efforts to weigh them down!), but by evening it calmed to perfect tranquility. Even when steady rain moved in our second night, the serene ocean atmosphere made it feel cozy rather than dreary.

Exploring the Area

🏘️ Belfast (closer than Searsport!) – This charming town is a must-visit with authentic local shops and restaurants. It has its own definite vibe – definitely not your run-of-the-mill tourist trap!

🎬 Camden (15 miles south on Route 1) – A picturesque harbor town with unique charm, featured in several films. Don't miss the Megunticook River that flows literally right through downtown!

🌲 Fort Point State Park – Beautiful shoreline trails, driftwood-covered beaches, and secluded picnic spots with BBQs tucked into wooded nooks.

🦌 Moose Point State Park – Another nearby gem for nature lovers.

Cat Travel Notes

The wide-open oceanfront setting was challenging for our feline travel companions on that first windy day – no amount of weighing down could keep their tunnel doors from flapping! But once the wind calmed, they got their extended layout and happily explored the new coastal scenery. Pro tip: I had to retrieve their tunnels around 5 AM during the rain (thanks to my reliable cat wake-up call!) to keep everything dry.

Final Verdict

Would we stay again?

Absolutely. While the oceanfront sites are worth every penny, the terraced sites behind us would also offer lovely ocean views. The location is perfect for exploring mid-coast Maine, and the peaceful setting makes it an ideal coastal getaway.
