Location: Harpursville, NY (Elevation: 1,825 ft)

After days of heavy rain and a last-minute booking change, we weren't sure what to expect at Beldon Hills. What we found was a peaceful mountain retreat with stunning valley views, challenging golf, and some of the most vibrant green wilderness we've seen on our journey so far. Here's our complete experience...
Campground Overview
Location & Accessibility:Easy to find—just a mile off the freeway—yet tucked away in the peaceful countryside. Perched atop a mountain, the campground offers stunning valley and mountain views. Bonus: The Beldon Hills Golf Club sits right across the street, featuring an 18-hole course with challenging elevation changes and scenic mountain backdrops. (We're teeing off later today—stay tuned for our golf review!)
Reservations & Check-In:Smooth and hassle-free! Reservations are made online via Campspot. When we needed to extend our stay due to flooding at our previous stop, the staff kindly accommodated us in the same site.

Site Conditions:Our arrival was (mostly) dry, but heavy rain soon turned the access roads into a muddy challenge. Deep ruts made backing in tricky, but thanks to Manny's expert maneuvering, we got settled. Despite the mud, the site itself was spacious with a mix of open skies and tree cover.
Amenities & Vibes:
Starlink: Worked flawlessly—great for remote work or streaming.
Scenery: Expansive views, two picturesque (very full!) ponds, and a serene atmosphere.
RV Compatibility: Our 44ft Class A had plenty of room, though the muddy conditions required careful navigation.
Exploring the Area

Hiking: IBM Glen Trail
A hidden gem! This easy-to-moderate 2.5-mile forest trail (with 400 ft elevation gain) winds through a lush, vibrant glen. Shorter loop options are available. We hiked on Memorial Day weekend and barely saw another soul—just us and the glowing green wilderness. After days of rain, the sunlight filtering through the canopy made the foliage almost surreal.
Scenic Drive: Route 17C
We'd hoped for a riverside tour along the Susquehanna (the largest non-navigable river in the U.S.), but visibility was limited. The small towns en route were quaint but uneventful, so we diverted to…
Binghamton, NY: A Surprising Stop

Binghamton University: Impressive campus along the river.
Downtown: Historic architecture (think 1800s–early 1900s) with standout attractions like:
Phelps Mansion Museum (1870s Victorian grandeur)—Closed Sun/Mon.
Roberson Museum (art, history, and science in a 1907 Italian Renaissance mansion)—Also closed.
Next time!Final Thoughts
Pros: Secluded, stunning views, easy booking, great hiking and golf nearby.Cons: Muddy roads after rain, limited nearby dining/attractions (plan ahead!).
Verdict: Ideal for nature lovers and golfers alike—just pack boots and clubs!
Would we return? Absolutely—with a weekday itinerary for Binghamton's museums and another round at Beldon Hills Golf Club!
