Our Experience

As the first official stop on our 2025 East Coast RV adventure, Blythe Island Campground proved to be the perfect launch point for exploring Georgia's stunning Golden Isles. After a longer-than-ideal first day's drive from Sarasota (about 5 hours), pulling into this wooded sanctuary was exactly what we needed!

What makes this campground special is the true "camping" experience it offers, despite having full hookups. Unlike many commercial RV parks, the sites here are nestled among trees, providing privacy and that connection with nature we crave. The peaceful setting is far enough from highways and major roads to ensure quiet nights, yet conveniently located for exploring the region.

The Site

While we typically choose pull-through sites at this park, we ended up with a back-in site this visit (note to self: book earlier next time!). Fortunately, it wasn't an issue since we were unhooking our tow vehicle anyway.

All sites feature generous concrete pads with picnic tables, 50-amp service, and full water/sewer connections. Though the campground doesn't offer WiFi, our T-Mobile signal was strong enough to power our dedicated hotspot for evening streaming and internet needs. One caveat: the dense tree canopy blocked our Starlink connection at our particular site, though other sites might have better satellite access.

Wildlife & Amenities

The campground's natural setting attracts abundant wildlife - we were delighted by friendly ducks waddling through our site, numerous rabbits hopping about, and even deer appearing along the roads in the evening. The property features a lovely lake with a beach area and playground, plus a boat launch for those bringing watercraft.

Twix, Bandit, and Thumper (our feline travel companions) particularly enjoyed watching the wildlife parade from the safety of their tunnels.

Exploring from Here

The location couldn't be better for day trips. We were just 20 minutes from Brunswick (with all necessary stores like Walmart and Lowes), and a short drive to both Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island. This central location made our golf outing and e-bike adventures on Jekyll Island convenient and stress-free.

Final Thoughts

Blythe Island Campground has become a reliable favorite on our coastal journeys. The combination of natural setting, full hookups, and strategic location makes it an exceptional value. Whether you're looking for a quick stopover or a base camp for Golden Isles exploration, this park delivers on all fronts.
